Email Quote of Note
Dave reports on email he received from a friend, which praised Valparaiso but accidently included an insightful typo: "Valparaiso is a great city to wonder around in." We agree completely.

Welcome!

Thanks for clicking on our page. Check it out. After you look at our latest news, send us email and tell us your news. As you probably know, our address is: snydder -- that's with two d's, one for Dan and one for Dave -- @earthlink.net. Of course, the stuff in italics isn't part of the email address, it's just in there to fool email address scavengers.

Happy New Year! Thanks to all of you who sent Christmas and New Years greetings. We were traveling and are a little slow to reply, but we will. Meanwhile, we are hopeful that 2006 is a better year than 2005, and that we will have ample opportunity to visit with friends this year.

This odd picture is the Snyder family reflected in a large mirror as we paused on a balcony to watch shoppers at the after Christmas sales in the Galeria Pacifico in Buenos Aires.

Our holiday trip this year was a whirlwind tour to South America. We visited

  • Chile: Viña Del Mar, Valparaiso, Santigo
  • Argentina: Buenos Aires
  • Uruguay: Colonia de Sacremento
The summer weather was pleasant and we spent the long days sightseeing or hanging out in cafés. We hope to put together a small Web page on the trip soon.

News and Notes

  • After returning from South America, Tomoko Ogawa, Dan's fiancée joined us for a few days. Guess who was happy to see her!

  • It was Tomoko's first visit to Seattle so we had to show her the sites. Those included Pioneer Square, of course, plus the Elliot Bay Book Store and Seattle Public Library. In the glass department we visited the Tiffany Glass exhibit at the SAM and the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.

Here they are under the Chihuly sea creatures at the "glass bridge" in Tacoma.

  • Tomoko and the boys have returned to the midwest. We have resumed our teaching duties. The year begins.
There is a new assortment of toys from everyone's Christmas socks, so stop by and play awhile!
