Email Quote of Note
In reference to Dave's less-than-flawless execution at a card game called "Guillotine", Mum and Dud write:
"Dave! Beware of Japanese card games even if they have French names."
Dave took this advice and thumped Dan at a Japanese card game with a Japanese name, "Dai-Hin-Min".

Thanks for clicking on our page. We hope you guys have had as much fun with your Thanksgiving as we've had with ours. You know our address -- send us a letter. Saltine cracker candies are also just fine. Really, they are.

Welcome!

Galesburg is a sophisticated city. No, no it is not. That's a patent lie. So, what are these people doing?

This beautiful scene of domestic tranquility is probably not typical of how the brothers have spent the previous 15 years together.

News and Notes

  • Dave came down in time for Thai Curry on Tuesday. First item on the agenda Wednesday was making the gingerbread house! Tomoko had found a recipe, and it turned out to be a winner. There was even space for a few dinosaurs in the mix.

    Can you find...

    • ...a doghouse?
    • ...a stack of logs?
    • ...a gable?
    • ...aliens or Martians or something?

  • Thanksgiving started with a refreshing walk at Lake Storey, on the north side of town. We saw much glorious and mysterious wildlife, including blue jays, fungi, sapsucker(?), paralyzed squirrel, incompetent fisherman and the unusal dog breed the Saint Bullnard.

Back home, lunch was a restorative French Onion Soup. But was so restorative, we had to burn off the calories with a game of frisbee at the softball diamond. While there we solved the Mystery of the Spontaneous Egg but that is a story for another webpage. Then, we began dinner:

The menu included Bobbie's Chicken, sweet potato pancakes, green beans, cranberry relish and a fine Tempranillo. Dan did the carving honors and finally put his gross human anatomy to use. One need not mention that dinner was neither gross nor human but the carving was superlative!

  • And, what would Thanksgiving be without bowling? Answer: Still Thanksgiving. Mathematicians call this "asymptotic bowling", as bowling gradually approaches 0. For more evidence, see our scorecards, which gradually approach 0 as well. Note, there may be some cause-and-effect relationship between "asymptotic bowling" and "exponential beering". We're still awaiting foundation funding from NSF/MGD.

  • Here, Tomoko simultaneously shows us how it's done and forces us to ask, "What is it?"

The winter trains have come to Galesburg, but they're running late!
