The
tartiflette, s’il vous plait. It’s a
delicious local specialty of potatoes scalloped in butter and cream with a
thick layer of crispy/gooey cheese on the top, served with smoked ham and a
good Bordeaux … perfect for a two hour lunch.
Then there
was the foie gras and the 1979 Chateau Closiot Sauternes for aperitif. This could have been our dinner, but then
came the confit de canard and sautéed potatoes with 1986 Chateau Haut-Marbuzet,
followed by the warm apple tatin and cognac. Somewhere after Annecy we’d taken
a right turn and ended up in heaven!
The kitchen

window
Jean-Pierre
is standing beside their antique Man Chest.
The idea is that a man could stand inside hiding, and no one would
suspect his presence because of the middle drawer, which is really a fake.
