Our Christmas trip this year was a week in Mexico City. It's a fascinating city with many more interesting sights to see than we had time to visit ... especially considering that it was important to spend quality time hanging out in the cantinas each afternoon. But we did take time to drive to Teotihuacan, a beautifully preserved pre-Aztec city.

Here, Dan, Tomoko, Dave and Julie are walking down the grand boulevard to the Moon Pyramid. Visitors can climb most of the ruins at the site, including the pyramids. It was a terrific day. We hope to have a page about the trip soon.

News & Notes

  • After the trip to Mexico City, we returned to Seattle to celebrate a late Christmas. Like last year we took advantage of having enthusiastic cooks around to play our home version of Iron Chef 2.

  • Our friends Alan Fekete and Shirley Goldrei are visiting from Sydney Australia. They are only in Seattle for two months, giving us an excuse to party together every week.

  • Our nephew-in-law, Jeff Paradee, is headed for Afghanistan for a year. He is Captain in the US Navy. He's a great guy and we are already looking forward to his safe return.

  • One big news item is that Larry and Calvin Lin completed their textbook Principles of Parallel Programming. It's a real page turner! As has become a tradition, L is taking J out to dinner to celebrate, this time in Taipei.

  • J joined 21,999 other people at a rally in Seattle for Barak Obama. For overseas friends, our state voted the next day for the candidate who will represent the Democratic Party in the fall presidential election. Obama beat Hillary Clinton 2:1.
