On
17 August our dear friends Brendan Healy and Melissa Rabelhofer were
married in Seattle. Many of you know Brendan as our "middle son," a
close friend of Dan and Dave's who spent enough time at our house over
the years, we started taking him as a tax deduction. We are delighted
they married -- Melissa's another extra deduction!
Here is the happy couple at the reception with their officiant, Pip Gordon. A native of New Zealand, Pip was Brendan's theater
mentor at Grinnell College, and they remain close friends. The reception was a terrific party! But first...
The ceremony was held on a bluff high above Puget Sound with the sun
beaming down and the Olympic mountains in the distance. We were honored
to be asked to participate in the ceremony. L read a passage by Scott
Raab titled "Let Us Now Praise Bacon." J read a piece by Elizabeth
Nunez on the sensual pleasures of ice cream. They may not sound like
classic wedding readings, but they characterized this very personal
wedding.

News & Notes
We've moved to Tokyo. More next time. (Contact info is at the usual place.)
On the wedding weekend our friends Ken and Shelley Burr hosted all five Snyders. In Dave's words, they suffered "an
explosion of Snyders." It was pretty much all party all the time!
J's water aerobics/coffee friends, Gwyn Fowler, Pirkko Borland and
Karlla Sander, came to Vancouver for a day of touring. A glass of wine
replaced the coffee, and the only exercise was walking around Granville
Island and the VanDusen Gardens. Gwyn, Pirkko and Karlla
Dave reports that he has had his poetry accepted for publication in the Denver Quarterly.
J
and Tomo drove the Prius from Seattle to Chicago in less than three
days. Excitement along the way included free coffee in Broadus MT,
seeing two states for the first time for Tomo (South Dakota and
Wisconsin), and one flat tire. J got out in Chicago to visit Dave, and
Tomo continued on to Dublin Georgia, arriving on the fourth evening
after leaving Seattle! Time 6:05 AM
We have finished digitizing our slides! That's approximately 8000
slides, but we won't make you watch them all.

Did you know that there are a dozen popular browser programs? Most of these are "open source" browsers,
which means they are free and usually much SAFER, FASTER and more up-to-date than Internet Explorer.
The best of the "open source" browsers is FireFox. Our Coordinates Page works best with Firefox. Get a
