Email Quote of Note
A correspondent sends the following joke:
A man walks into a bar and orders a drink. The robot bartender
serves it, and asks, "What is your IQ?" The man says 150.The robot
starts chatting about global warming, black holes and international currency
trading. The guy is impressed and decides to try an experiment. He goes out
and comes back in, orders a drink and, when asked his IQ, says 100. The robot
starts talking about the NASCAR circuit, the baseball season and Skil saws.
Totally impressed, the guy goes out, comes back in and orders a drink. He
gives his IQ as 50. The robot says, "So ... you gonna vote for Bush again?"

Thanks for clicking on our page. Check it out. After you look at our
latest news, send us email and tell us your news. As you probably
know, our address is: snydder --
that's with two d's, one for Dan and one for Dave -- @earthlink.net. Of course, the
stuff in italics isn't part of the email address, it's just in there to fool
email address scavengers.
Welcome!
We're happy to be back reporting the news after months of being too busy doing whatever it is
we do to report on it. A lot has happened, and we're talking about milestones
here. The biggest news is that Dan and Tomoko are married! Check out this
draft wedding announcement in the style of iPod ads.
They didn't use this design, but we liked it. If you want to send a note to the happy
couple, their email addresses are daniel-snyder or
tomoko-ogawa -- they both receive mail at the University of Iowa server --
@uiowa.edu. Of course the stuff in italics isn't part of the email address.
News and Notes (In time order.)
- It's official! Dave is now an administrative assistant in the Fiber Arts
Department of the School at the Art Institute of Chicago. He manages the office and fixes their
Jacquard loom in his spare time.
- It's official! On April 19th Dan defended his doctoral dissertation A Study of the
Fossil Vertebrate Fauna from the Jasper Hiemstra Quarry, Delta, Iowa, and Its Environment. As
they like to say in
Red Lodge MT "it makes pretty snappy reading for parties interested in some of the
ologies -- paleontology for example."
- It's official! Dave's the winner of the 2006
Writers At Work Poetry Fellowship for his poem "Pica." He will read it
on the evening of June 20 at their Salt Lake City Conference!
- It's official! Dan and Tomoko tied the knot on 4 May 2006 in a civil ceremony in Iowa City, Iowa.
Here is the happy couple with their wedding party at their celebration dinner.
Dan and Tomoko are on the left, of course. On the right, front to back, are Dave, Sachiyo Tanaka,
Tomoko's witness and former roommate, and Talia Karim, Dan's witness and former office mate.
Dave's credits included photographer, sommelier and best boy grip.
- It's official. Dan is now "Dr. Snyder," having received his PhD at the University of
Iowa graduation. He's the 3rd generation "Dr. Snyder."
- And we have begun a remodel of our downstairs bedrooms. The work will not be completed for at least
another month, but it should be pretty nice acccomodations for our guests.
Plan to visit. Soon!
