We've been traveling and traveling and traveling ... and not keeping everyone updated on our coordinates. The big news since last time is the new member of the family: Dan and Tomo have adopted a dog named Jackson.
Jackson
Jackson's main jobs are to take care of the napping duties in D & T's home, and to take them for walks regularly. So far, he's doing a great job!
News & Notes
L has been learning to bake apple tatin from our friend Jeamy Cantereau's cookbook, French Cooking in New Zealand. When she and husband Peter Ferran came to town this summer, she gave a lesson in the finer points of baking this wonderful dessert.

We spent most of a week driving through the mountains of southern British Columbia: the Columbia Range, the Selkirk Range and the Purcell Range. Did you know that there is a second Glacier National Park? "The Glacier National Park of Canada" is just as spectacular as the other one. And, 12% of its area is covered with glaciers!

Jim and Julie Shadle marked their 50th (!) wedding anniversary this year. Their children -- Stacy, Stephanie, and Eric -- and families hosted a truly delightful party for them on the shores of Lake Koocanusa in Montana.
Celebrating!
We took a short trip to Chicago to see Dave. He has a new apartment, which is the first floor of a nicely rennovated early 20th century home. It even has a built in ironing board. It may be time for him to get an iron.

A highlight of the Chicago trip was taking the architecture tour on the Chicago River. The boat cruises the river as a docent from the Chicago Architecture Society describes the buildings, their history and the architects that created them. This is a must-see item on every visitor's 'list'.
Reflecting on Architecture
Ken and Shelley Burr celebrated their 60th birthdays at a party at our house hosted by their children -- Carrie, Cam and Catie. It was fun to be part of the "Surprise!"
We spent the first week of August in Korea as guests of our friends , and by extension 's entire family. We met her brothers Byung Soo and Nicholas, her sisters, Christina and Juliana, and her cousin Son Nam. We stayed in their homes, were feted with banquets, and shown all around the country. Their hospitality was warm and gracious. Korea is such a fascinating place that we hope to visit again, soon.
