With the holiday season drawing to a close, and with 2012 upon us, we wrap-up the unreported news from 2011 before we get to our predictions for 2012.
Christmas 2011
The year 2011, which was so bad in so many ways, ended on a high note, at least for the Snyders. We
had two glorious weeks together, partying and eating in front of the fireplaces, playing games and visiting
with friends. We hope your holiday season was as joyous!
We wish you a Happy New Year!
News & Notes
As noted last issue, Brendan Healy's play Suffering, Inc. premiered this fall to glowing reviews. Seattle Times critic Misha Berson called it "one of the most unexpected, inventive, and deranged pieces of theatre I've seen this year." She said she meant 'deranged' in a good way! The play is set in a present day office, and is created using only dialog from plays by Anton Chekhov. Congratulations to Brendan and the Pony World team!
In November we spent nine delightful days in Singapore, and snapped hundreds of pictures. Which picture best illustrates our time in Singapore? One picture? Ha! Here's a candidate, but many others are shown on our ePostcards page.
Satay Awaiting Peanut Sauce
As is traditional we went to Libby, Montana to celebrate US Thanksgiving with Jim and Julie Shadle and their family. We arrived to snow, but by the time we were ready for the annual Christmas tree cutting party in the mountains, it was glorious sunshine.
Bringing Back Two Christmas Trees
Our third tree (not shown above) was a 20 ft (6 m) Douglas fir for the study balcony. We thought it was perfect, and our neighbors agreed!
Balcony Tree At Dusk
Ken and Shelley Burr joined us for a weekend in Vancouver. We didn't do much that was exciting, but a quiet weekend together before the crush of holiday activities seemed to suit all of us.
After Christmas, the five Snyders went to Vancouver for a few days. Besides galleries and games, we spent some serious time trying a new gnocchi recipe.
The Cutest Gnocchi Makers In The West
For New Year celebration Tomoko guided us through a traditional Japanese meal.
Akemashite Omedetogozaimasu!
Happy New Year!Prediction: 2012 will be a better year than 2011 for our friends, family, and, hopefully the whole world.
