We've been in Rome and Georgia recently. Not Rome Georgia, but Rome Italy and Atlanta Georgia.
Tomoko and Dan
Why Atlanta? For a weekend with Tomoko and Dan! We toured, we chatted, we ate hot dogs at the Varsity, and we enjoyed mint juleps and classic soul food at Mary Mac's Tea Room.
News & Notes
Why Rome? Are you serious? Rome has so much amazing art and history that despite being there the entire month of April, we couldn't see more than a fraction of it. Perhaps we would have seen more if we hadn't stopped so often for the terrific Roman food. It was a great time to visit, because the Eternal City was all decked out for Easter and the Beatification of John Paul II. Receive a full set of our digital postcards.
Night Games at the Coliseum
Our friend Hilde Borgir of Larvik Norway joined us in Rome for a few days of sightseeing and catching up. The three of us toured the Galleria Borghese, perhaps the art highlight of the trip! We have no photos (not allowed), but take our word -- the next time you're in Rome, DON'T MISS IT! Second on the list of great sites is Ostia Antica, a huge ruin only a short train ride outside of Rome.
Primo Seats at the 2000 year old Ostia Antica Theater
Although Atlanta is no Roma -- actually, nowhere is -- it is a fun place to visit. This time T and D took us the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Carter Center. These two awesome men are both Nobel Peace Prize winners, which captures well the scale of their good works.
Men of Peace
Good news for Dave's Chicago Rarities Orchard Project (CROP): Nelson Chueng from Chicago's Department of Housing and Economic Development said that it was time to move forward with the project, solidifying the design, getting the proper permits, and bidding for a contractor. Translated into English, that's "Let's plant an orchard!" Congratulations, CROP!
