What do a couple of characters do for entertainment in Tokyo? Well after visiting family, hiking, eating, visiting temples and eating some more, these two got a caricature drawn. Those who have been to Tokyo may recognize the Rainbow Bridge (to Odaiba) in the background.

Tomoko and Dan were in Tokyo to visit her family in July. Lucky for us they returned to the US through Seattle. They were both here long enough for a day trip to Deception Pass, Whidbey Island tour, Viking Days at the Nordic Heritage Museum, and an art show.

July 1st is Canada Day. In Vancouver our celebration included an art exhibit of oil portraits of famous Canadians. Among them was architect Frank Gehry from Toronto, who designed Seattle's Experience Music Project, shown here with L. But even better were these two little Canadians and the photo portraits of ordinary citizens. Click for an up-close-and-personal view (2.4MB).

A distant cousin of Davidson, Isabel Rorick, presented earlier.

L's June trip to Purdue University in Indiana ended on a high note, too. Thanks to the incompetence of American Airlines, he had 8 hours to kill at O'Hare Airport. That's time enough to take the train into Chicago and meet Dave for a couple of pints and some tacos. And on the flight home he could skip the cardboard airline food!
